1. Acceptance of these terms
Dira is operated by Hussein Rajabu, an individual based in Texas, United States ("Dira", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Dira, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Dira.
2. The service
Dira is a web application for planning and writing fiction. It lets you organise projects, characters, events, scenes and dialogues, write a manuscript, use story-structure tools, and upload images. Some features, such as the Dira System's story analysis, are available only on the paid plan.
3. Eligibility and registration
- You must be old enough to enter into a binding agreement where you live.
- You can register with an email address and password, or with your Google account.
- Give accurate information when you register, and keep it up to date.
4. Account security and responsibilities
- Keep your password and sign-in details private, and use a password you do not use elsewhere.
- You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
5. Your projects and content
Your projects, manuscripts, notes, characters, worlds and uploaded images are your content. You are responsible for it, including making sure you have the right to upload anything that belongs to someone else.
We work to keep your content safe, but please keep your own copies of work that matters to you.
6. Ownership of your content
You keep ownership of your content. Dira does not claim ownership of your manuscripts, characters, worlds or any other creative work you make here.
So that Dira can work, you give us permission to store, copy, process and display your content only as needed to provide the service to you — for example, to save it, show it back to you and keep backups. This permission ends when your content is deleted, except for copies that remain in backups for a limited time.
7. Acceptable use
When using Dira, you agree not to:
- break the law, or upload content you do not have the right to use;
- upload malware, or try to access accounts, projects or systems that are not yours;
- disrupt or overload the service, or get around plan limits or security measures;
- scrape, resell or redistribute the service without our permission;
- use Dira to harass, threaten or harm other people.
8. Free and paid plans
Dira has a Free plan at no cost and a paid plan, Dira Plus, billed monthly in US dollars. Each plan's price, limits and features are listed on our Pricing page.
If you move from Dira Plus to the Free plan, nothing you created is deleted: your existing projects, characters and images stay readable, editable and deletable. Only new items beyond the Free plan's limits are refused.
9. Billing, renewal, cancellation and Paddle
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders: Paddle takes payment, handles sales tax and VAT, issues receipts and provides customer service for billing enquiries and returns. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle's buyer terms, shown at checkout.
Dira Plus is a recurring subscription. It renews automatically each month until you cancel. If we change the price of Dira Plus, the change will not apply to a period you have already paid for.
You can cancel at any time from Settings → Plan → Manage billing. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Dira Plus until the end of the period you have already paid for, and your account then moves to the Free plan. Cancelling does not by itself refund a payment.
10. Refunds and consumer rights
You can request a refund of your first Dira Plus payment within 14 days of your initial subscription purchase. Renewal payments do not start a new refund window. Refunds are issued by Paddle, and how to request one is explained in our Refund Policy.
Nothing in these terms limits any refund, cancellation or other consumer right you have under the law that applies to you, or under Paddle's buyer terms for your purchase.
11. Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep Dira running, but we cannot promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. We may pause Dira for maintenance or updates, and we may add, change or remove features over time.
12. Suspension and termination
You can stop using Dira at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem or retrieve your content.
13. Exporting and deleting your content
You can delete individual items inside your projects at any time. Dira does not currently offer self-service deletion of a whole project or account, or a full export of your account; to have your account and its projects deleted, or to ask for a copy of your data, contact us. You can copy your writing out of the editor at any time, and a scene's canvas can be exported as a file.
14. Dira's intellectual property
Dira's software, design, name and logo belong to us. These terms give you permission to use Dira; they do not transfer any of our intellectual property to you. Your content remains yours, as described above.
15. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Dira is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties beyond those stated in these terms, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data or content.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded or limited by law, or our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.
16. Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of Dira will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Texas, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring the dispute in your local courts.
Nothing in this section takes away consumer protections or other rights that cannot be waived or limited under the law that applies to you.
17. Changes to these terms
If we update these terms, we will post the new version on this page and change the effective date above.
