1. Who runs Dira
Dira is operated by Hussein Rajabu, an individual based in Texas, United States, who is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
2. Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign up with email, we collect your name and email address and your password, which we store only as a one-way hash, never in readable form. When you sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email address with us.
- Profile and settings. Your display name, whether your email address has been verified, and preferences you save, such as your theme.
- Your content. The projects, manuscripts, characters, events, scenes, dialogues, notes and images you create or upload. See section 3.
- Subscription information. If you buy Dira Plus, Paddle tells us your Paddle customer and subscription identifiers, your plan, its status and billing dates. We never receive or store your card or bank details.
- Cookies and browser storage. Dira uses cookies to keep you signed in and to protect Google sign-in, and stores display preferences such as light or dark mode in your browser. Dira does not use advertising cookies.
- Technical information. Like any website, our hosting provider processes request information such as IP addresses, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose errors.
Dira does not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
3. Your writing and project data
Your writing is stored in our database so that you can reach it from any device you sign in on. It is available to your account; we access it only when needed to run the service, fix a problem you report or meet a legal obligation.
Dira's writing-analysis features run inside your browser using a model served by Dira itself. Your writing is not sent to any AI or machine-learning service, Dira does not use generative AI, and we do not use your writing to train AI models.
Uploaded images are stored in Google Cloud Storage and shown to you through links. Treat an image link like the image itself: anyone you share it with may be able to open it.
4. How we use information
- to provide Dira: save your work, show it back to you and keep you signed in;
- to manage your plan and apply its limits;
- to respond to your messages and requests;
- to keep the service and its users secure, and to meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
5. Service providers and sharing
We share information only with service providers that help us run Dira, each of which handles it to provide its service to us:
- Vercel hosts the Dira website and application.
- Neon hosts the database that holds account and project data.
- Google Cloud stores uploaded images.
- Google provides sign-in, if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Paddle is our Merchant of Record. It processes payments for Dira Plus and handles the details you enter at checkout under its own privacy notice.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
6. How long we keep data, and deletion
We keep your account and project data for as long as your account exists.
- You can delete individual items inside your projects at any time. Deleted images are removed from your project, and the files may be kept in storage for a period before they are permanently removed.
- Dira does not yet offer self-service deletion of a whole project or account. To delete your account and all of its projects, contact us (see "Contact us" below).
- Copies may remain in our providers' backups for a limited time after deletion.
- Subscription and payment records may be kept after an account closes where we need them for accounting or legal reasons.
7. Security
Dira is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored only as hashes, and sign-in cookies cannot be read by scripts on the page. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us if you notice anything suspicious.
8. Where data is processed
Dira is run from the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and in other countries. If you use Dira from outside the United States, your information will be processed outside your country.
9. Children's privacy
Dira is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Dira does not verify users' ages at sign-up. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us so that we can delete it.
10. Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your content and profile in Dira at any time. You can also ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, and to correct, delete or give you a copy of it.
Depending on where you live — including Texas and other U.S. states, the United Kingdom and the European Union — you may have further rights under data-protection law, such as the right to appeal our decision on a request or to complain to a regulator. We will not treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights. To make a request, use the contact details below.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date above.
